Guitar Hero PSLGH Controller
The RedOctane PSLGH is one of the classic early Guitar Hero controllers, designed for the Sony PlayStation 2 and styled after the Gibson SG electric guitar. Produced by RedOctane during the early years of the Guitar Hero franchise, the SG became closely associated with the original Guitar Hero experience. Unlike many later Guitar Hero controllers, the PSLGH is a wired controller, connecting directly to the PlayStation 2 controller port and requiring no wireless receiver or dongle.
The PSLGH’s relatively simple wired design has helped make it a popular controller among Guitar Hero enthusiasts even many years after its introduction. With no batteries, wireless synchronization or separate dongle to worry about, it is essentially plug-and-play on compatible PlayStation 2 Guitar Hero titles. Today these controllers are commonly found on the used market, although years of enthusiastic rocking can result in worn fret contacts, strum switches, whammy mechanisms and damaged cables. For collectors, repairers and modders, the RedOctane SG remains one of the most recognizable—and refreshingly straightforward—controllers from the early Guitar Hero era.
