New “shorter” design 3D printable Guitar Hero Fret Buttons. I did a lot of and I’ve come up with what I think is an improved design, specifically to work with our replacement mechanical fret boards.
They’re 3mm shorter than the stock fret button and have a large, flat bottom. Zip file contains 6 STL fret button files with 0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 and 2.5mm recess.
What/why the change?
The complete “filled-in” bottom avoids any issues with making good, even contact with the top of the switch. Also, it makes printing easier with much less support material to remove.
Shortening the overall length by 3mm (taken off the bottom) avoids situations where the outer ‘shell’ of the fret button mechanically interferes (bumps against) the switch body, preventing the actual switch from being properly pushed.
If the fret “just” pushes against the button (e.g. no slack/slop), it felt really good and shortened the ‘throw’ to get the switch to activate.
