Short answer: Yes.
Longer answer: By how much, I don’t know.
I wonder just how well/quickly a switching regulator can adapt to changes in current demand and absorbing the regenerated power from the motors. As a GENERAL rule, switchers have smaller output capacitors as too much capacitance will interfere with ability of the switcher to respond quickly to voltage/current changes. I have zero proof to back up my thoughts, and I’m not going to experiment to find out.

Just be cautious with super-cheap, no name, chinese, eBay power supplies. They are inexpensive for a reason. Check my blog post The lowest price DIY CNC electronics isn’t always the best value.
