G’day I’m currently looking into making my own cnc router to mainly cut HDPE (high density polyethylene) and teflon which are both really soft plastic and if possible, the occasional aluminium piece as well. The cnc is going to have dimensions of 1m x 2m and i was wondering if your PRO kit with the 305oz-in steppers would be adequate for my application? If not what sort of power do you think i might need? Cheers

    Thomas,
Even without knowing what type of drive you are using (belt, chain, screw), I’m confident these steppers will do more than fine. I have the same motors on my rig (drive screw = 1/4-20 threaded rod) and I have machined nylon, HDPE, Acrylic, aluminum sheet (.040″), wood, MDF and engraved all the above.
Your spindle choice matters, as does the tool you use. These steppers will be the least of your worries!
